Introduction

Originally developed as a manual trip switch on radial arm drilling and milling machines, the RDM 360º Pendulum Switch now offers significant advantages as a telescopic probe switch in a much wider range of applications.

The probe length is fully adjustable up to a maximum of 915mm. The slightest deflection of the probe from its central position, in ANY direction, operates the switch : the probe can be deflected by more than 90º in any direction, making it virtually unbreakable. The switch mechanism is spring loaded and fail-safe - any failure of the mechanism will trip the switch.

Introduction One of the inherent problems with larger machine tools continues to be operator safety, with the operator perhaps needing to work out of easy reach of the control panel.

Should the operator become caught up in the moving parts, serious, perhaps even fatal injuries may be sustained before the machine can be stopped.

By combining the moveable magnetic base switch with the Drivloc electronic motor braking system, RDM has developed a safety system which significantly reduces the risk of injury to machine tool operators.

Introduction

There are three quite different styles of RDM foot operated trip switches. The different designs make them suitable for a wide variety of machines, although all of the switches are designed specifically for emergency stop applications and as such comply fully with B.S.E.N. 60204 and B.S. 5304. All RDM trip switches are fully compatible with our 'Drivloc' D.C. Injection motor brakes to provide a comprehensive machine safety system.

F12
This is a compact foot switch intended for smaller machines, such as Drills, Grinders, Polishers and Small Milling machines, the switch is 300mm long of enclosed design.

KPl50
A larger kick plate type switch that is suitable for larger machines such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Smaller Bending Rolls and Cylindrical Grinders. This switch is available in lengths specifically suited to the machine or application.

KB1000
Designed for very large machine tools and use under arduous conditions the KB1000 is a heavy duty trip/kick bar type switch which can either be floor mounted as a foot operated switch or machine mounted as a safety bar. It is suitable for machines such as Heavy Plate Rolls and Rubber Mills. This switch is available in lengths specifically suited to the machine or application.
